What is Missions?
Mission
is spreading the word and love of God to unbelievers everywhere. Acts 1:8b
says:
"Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in
Samaria, and everywhere in the world.”
Xponential Online will train on Missions and the purpose of Missions work.
Missions also involves outreach such as servant evangelism activities which is
sharing God’s love by simply serving others in practical ways without expecting
anything in return.
Missions Mandate 2020-2021
167 Living - At Xponential Online we hold a deep commitment to further the Good
News of Jesus Christ throughout the Earth, and to achieve that goal we attempt
to utilize every available means at our disposal to equip those who are Christ
followers and to engage those who are not yet Christ followers. A week contains
168 hours in it and most Christ followers focus on the 1 hour each week being
spent in worship and there is very little attention given to the other 167
hours in the week. It is with this perspective that we set aside the year
2020-2021 as a year that we will empower our fellowship to do both. We are
calling this aspect of the vision 167 Living. 167 Living causes the Christ
follower to embark on a journey of living out their faith beyond the walls of
the Church and to become involved in their local community as a viable witness
for Christ. It is with this strategy that XO is asking those who
participate in our fellowship to commit to the following:
…asking the Christ follower to spend at least 1 hour each week in corporate
worship on Sunday morning.
…asking the Christ follower to spend at least 1 ½ hours each week in a
small group Bible study group, such as, Sunday School, or the various other
small group studies provided by our Church, in order to build needed
connections with other Christ followers.
…asking the Christ follower to spend at least 1 hour each week involved in some
type of spiritual enrichment study and application to assist the believer in
their walk with Christ.
…asking the Christ follower to spend at least 1 hour each week in some type of
volunteer capacity within the community. It should be outside of the walls of
the Church.
Ministry of Serving
Love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39)
The Christian life is one of service to others, where we show love and kindness
to everyone, even to those who do not treat us well. We can serve others in
many ways, and we should ensure that we use every opportunity that we can.
Relationships
One of the most valuable ways to serve others is to show them that we care.
Giving our time and encouragement to someone will often be more valuable than
even the most generous gift. There are many people who feel lonely and want to
chat with others. Even those who have many friends, and a loving family, enjoy
speaking to new people.
When others need our help most, we should make a special effort to show them
that we care. By providing love and support we can make a real difference in
the lives of others. Paul has reminded us that helping others when they are
struggling is fundamental to the gospel.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:2)
At XO we will accomplish the goal of loving our neighbor
through events that we call Servant Evangelism Events. These are defined as
doing acts of kindness without expecting anything in return in order to show
the love of Jesus in practical ways.
